Thank you for helping the Oro Valley Optimist Club support youth. We will celebrate another successful golf tournament but this can only be achieved through your continued dedication to helping the youth of our community. Your support of our main fundraising event means that we can continue to honor those Oro Valley students who are excelling in their academic endeavors and doing their part in serving their community. Your generosity will also make life a little better for those who are less fortunate.
This past year we have supported Project Graduation, Camp Abilities, Youth On Their Own and Arizona Youth Partnership to name a few. In addition we continue to partner with the Oro Valley Police Department in sponsoring the 5th Annual Drug Awareness Day. Over 700 local fifth grade students attended this successful event in Riverfront Park. The Dispose-A-Med program continues to experience great success removing prescription and non-prescription drugs from our streets and our groundwater supply. In 28 short months we have recovered and destroyed nearly 1,600,000 pills. Currently prescription medication abuse is the fastest growing area of drug abuse by misdirected teenagers because these substances are readily available.
Our tournament will be held on May 7, 2016, at the Oro Valley Community and Recreation Center. 100% of your contributions, net of direct costs, support our Youth Services Fund which is a 501© 3 nonprofit organization EIN# 27-0378336.
